EMPLOYEE RESIGNATIONS
Background
The Superintendent requires that employees wishing to resign from the employ of the School do so in accordance with the provisions of provincial statutes and administrative procedures.
Procedures
1. The employee wishing to resign from employment with the School shall submit a letter of resignation to the Superintendent specifying the last day of performance of assigned duties.
2. Upon receiving a letter of resignation, the Superintendent shall:
2.1 Ensure that the period of notice given by the employee is in accord with the conditions of employment;
2.2 If in accord, accept, in writing, the resignation; and
2.3 Forward a copy of the letter accepting the resignation to the Secretary-Treasurer and/or Payroll Administrator.
3. If, upon receiving a letter of resignation, the Superintendent believes that the period of notice does not comply with the conditions of employment, the Superintendent may:
3.1 Require of the employee the appropriate period of notice; or
3.2 Accept the resignation as offered; and
3.3 Forward a copy of the letter accepting the resignation to the Secretary-Treasurer and/or Payroll Administrator.
4. In the event an employee is absent from work for undisclosed reasons for a period of five (5) consecutive days, the position will be considered abandoned and therefore vacant.
5. On their last day of work, employees must return to their immediate supervisor the following:
5.1 Keys;
5.2 School-owned electronic devices;
5.3 School resources.
5.3.1 School resources include all work-related files, accounts, lesson plans, and any other information relevant to the successor in order to minimize any disruption to the School.
5.3.2 Shredding of any electronic information on school-issued devices, or school-based storage such as the server or drives, is prohibited unless the Superintendent gives prior written consent.
5.3.3 Personal information, unrelated to work matters, may be deleted from a school-issued device or school-based storage such as the server or drives.
5.3.4 Any work-related resources such as files, accounts and lesson plans that are stored on an employee’s personal electronic devices shall be relocated to the school’s server or drives or otherwise made accessible to the successor to minimize any disruption to the school.
