SCHOOL DAY

Background

The Principal, in consultation with staff and community stakeholders, is responsible for determining the hours of operation of the School. The Principal will consider the requirements of Alberta Education, specifically the annual hours of instruction, needs of students, transportation services, and other pertinent variables in deciding the hours of operation.

Procedures

1. The Principal will submit a schedule for the hours of operation of the School to the Superintendent by April 1 for the succeeding school year.
2. This schedule will indicate that Alberta Education minimum time requirements will be met or exceeded and will comply with the requirements specified in the Guide to Education.
3. The Principal will maintain the hours of operation for the entire school year unless a significant event or circumstance necessitates a request to the Superintendent for approval to change the operational hours during a school year.
