Privacy Management Plan
Valhalla Community School is a public body governed by Alberta’s Access to Information Act (ATIA) and Protection of Privacy Act (POPA). ATIA permits members of the public access to public body information, while POPA addresses how information under the custody or control of a public body is managed and protected.
Under section 25 of POPA, public bodies are required to establish a Privacy Management Program (PMP) consisting of policies and procedures that guide the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of personal information, data derived from personal information, and non-personal data. A PMP supports compliance with the legislation and includes documentation of program roles and responsibilities; processes for the correction of personal information, addressing privacy incidents, and responding to complaints; information security and safeguards; use of automated systems; and employee training.
Valhalla Community School is currently finalizing the PMP and will update this page with further information once completed.
